Start Over

Hello.

Just wanted to post an update. Since I haven't in like.... 4 months. -_- time escapes me. And since the hour change it escapes me faster.

I've been thinking a lot about this photography stuff. And I've decided to make some changes. And actually "start over" if you would.

You see, I'm in this place where I want to work - I want to book weddings and engagements and events and all that stuff however - I'm still SO NEW! It's like the first time you fill out a job application; they can't hire you without experience, but you can't get experience if they don't hire you! Not cool, right? On the other hand I have two girl friends who are pregnant and they've asked me to do their maternity shoots when they are "more pregnant" haha. I can't wait. :)

You may have noticed (or not, since I haven't posted you probably haven't visited) I took off the name PrintsCharming. It made me sad. I love the name. However, when I am able to "become legal" business license, the whole shindig, that name is already taken. Who knew so many people thought outside the box? But thank you to my lovely friend Chris who came up with/inspired the name. It was fun while it lasted. ;-)

I've thought of several names, but that's for another blog. I'm looking to see if the name I want is available. Hopefully I'll know this week. :)

I just recently saw Jasmine Star do a 3 month photography course on Creative Live. I was inspired. I learned a lot. (I'm actually re-watching it on my own time too, I liked it so much) and I can't wait for the opportunity to put feet to what I learned and use my own ideas I develop along my photographic journey.

To you reading this: thanks for cheering for me. :)

Ps... Congrats to my dear friends Aimee and Taylor on your wedding. Enjoy your honeymoon. And your life. Happy ever after. <3

Weddings

Welcome.

I love weddings. Even before I had my own. I don't love them like Jane in "27 Dresses" love them. But I love them. Besides all the decor and excitement, there is something very sacred and special about them to me. Here's some special stuff I got to witness.....

Decor....
OK so I must tell you: I was not the photographer hired for this event. In truth I don't even know who got married. I have recently been given the task of helping put together weddings where I work. And I get a lot of girls asking, "what kind of decorations can I use?". So. I have taken it upon myself to go and photograph wedding decor when we have a wedding. The girls get ideas. I get practice. It's a win-win - right? =)

The Wishing Tree

I've seen this at a few weddings. I loved the red and white together. Those were almost my wedding colors. The couple had stamps and note cards for guests to write notes for the newlyweds. Some friends put fingerprints on the note cards to make the shape of a heart.

Inside the Main Sanctuary

They hadn't rolled out the isle runner when I was taking the photos -- a slight bummer - but I love how it looks. Like the room knows something special is going to happen.

Chris & Carla Lopez...

I've known Chris...since...like....forever....... it was truly special to get to see him marry the love of his life Carla. Again - I was not the official photographer for their wedding, so my view wasn't always great -- but I had fun with the camera. =)

They had a lovely welcome table. A sweet photo book and sharpies we used to write notes in the book for the lovely couple. Like. Yearbook status. Only a LOT cooler. =) Chris is a drummer. So instead of a card box they had a card drum. Awesome? Creative? I think YES! ^_^

Loved the love note box and chalkboard love story timeline.

Love the candles. But I tend to be biased towards candles. Hehe. I also thought the paper cones with flower petals to toss were cute.

This is one of my favorite photos.

You see this face! I love the looks on grooms' faces when the bride comes down! (And NO, I didn't steal that from "27 Dresses") I have photos of what my own groom looked liked and they are among my favorite photos. You don't see those faces very often.

This was my favorite moment.
Communion.
Sacred moment between you, the one your sharing your life with and Jesus. It was a beautiful scene to see their bridal party cover them in prayer.

First married kiss!

Ondre & Yolanda....

I met these two....hmmm..... 2 years ago? Maybe a little less? Anyways - the love Jesus and they love each other. And -- for reasons I am unsure of -- they didn't hire a photographer! (*gasp!*) To each their own though right? This wedding was fun because I didn't hear about them not having a photographer until - no joke - an hour before the ceremony!! So two mutual friends of ours and myself took it upon ourselves to take photos and bless them. This is no easy task for this building. Don't get me wrong. I love my church I'm just not so fond of the building. The lighting is.... well... an adventure. haha. But it was fun. I even sneaked backstage. Like I was on a secret mission. These are the photos I took. Hope they like 'em!

Lighting the unity candles.
They are no longer two, they are one.

I don't know why. But I love that their faces are slightly out of focus here. =)

Happy Ever After!!!

Congratulations and thank you to the lovely couples who let me broadcast their special moments on my blog. Love you! Enjoy married life!
